Our stone of the year: Prasiolite

It enchants with delicate green tones and gives every piece of jewellery a lively freshness

We have fallen in love with this stone: Since we discovered the light green radiance of prasiolite for our Capriccio colored stone line, we have not been able to let it go. That is why we have named the trendy green quartz our "Stone of the Year 2024". You can now also find the translucent beauty in the Twinkle Ballon and Shades of Love lines.

Trendy reed shades A decision that is also a little inspired by current fashion - the light reed and olive shades are actually playing an important role on the catwalks this year. Much more important, however, is the special charisma of the prasiolite, which is also called vermarine or green amethyst. It looks fresh, but always carries a touch of mystery. Cut into facets, it sparkles irresistibly, whether it is small and delicate or in statement size.

Facts about the “leek green” stone
As already mentioned, prasiolite is a variety of quartz. The green stone was first discovered in the early 1800s in Silesia, Poland, but was not officially described until 1990. The actual history of prasiolite began in the 1950s in the USA: jewelers sold the so-called "green amethyst", which was later called prasiolite after its color shades - derived from the Greek word "prasinos", meaning leek green.

Metaphysical meaning
Of course, there is also a metaphysical meaning. Those who believe in crystal healers see prasiolite as a stone of prosperity that can attract opportunities for success. It is said to give self-confidence and strengthen willpower. In terms of healing power, prasiolite is said to have the power to cleanse toxins, and emotionally speaking, it is said to increase compassion.

We at Capolavoro find it simply beautiful and predestined to enrich our jewelry collections with its luminosity.
